Description
A pure rice sake (junmai) from the Kokuryu brewery. A harmonious blend: neither too sweet nor too dry, neither too light nor too fragrant. The two key ingredients of sake, rice and water, are allowed to express themselves fully.
Storage:
This sake should be stored in a cool place between 2 and 5°C. As with all sake, it should be protected from light. For longer storage, it is best to store the bottle upright in a dark place. Laying the bottle down brings the sake into contact with the cork, which can be harmful.
Ingredients:
Water, rice, koji rice. (Alcohol content: 14.5%)
Shelf life:
Before opening and under the right conditions (as mentioned above), this sake can be kept for years. Once opened, it’s all a matter of taste: the ‘standard’ shelf life is around ten days in the fridge, but some aficionados leave their bottles to mature in a cool place for three to four weeks, or even longer. It all depends on your taste in oxidised sakes.
Serve chilled or at room temperature:
This sake can be served chilled, between 8 and 10°C, or at room temperature, between 13 and 16°C. When served chilled, its aromas are more concentrated and its alcohol more discreet. At room temperature, it gains depth and reveals a little more of its alcohol.
